Acupressure With Essential Oils For Joint Pain
According to Chinese medicine, arthritis arises when the flow of qi and blood are blocked from passing through the meridians, the body’s energy pathways. These meridians are like rivers that irrigate the body and nourish its tissues. Any obstruction along one of the meridians can act like a dam that blocks the vital energy flow, creating pain and disease.
Acupressure can help reduce pain, inflammation, address the blockage, and possibly prevent further joint deterioration. With the power of essential oils, you have a potent combination.
Marjoram
Marjoram reduces muscle cramps and sprains, helps reduce blood pressure, and relieves arthritis pain. It has been used therapeutically for thousands of years for respiratory issues, headaches, and supporting digestive health.
Energetically it helps us trust others and create meaningful relationships.
Marjoram can be applied neat although I always recommend diluting for children or those with sensitive skin.
Try It On This Point
San Jiao 5 or “Outer Frontier Gate” is located on both arms at the center of the dorsal forearm, three finger-withs above the wrist crease.
It’s a very powerful point for relieving pain in the elbow, shoulder, neck, and jaw.
When one is too exhausted to reach out to others, this point can invigorate one’s ability to harmonize with people and groups with the right balance of enthusiasm and reservedness.
Press the marjoram oil on both points. Breathe and hold the for 1-3 minutes (or until you feel a shift).
Note: You can also apply this oil directly to the area of discomfort.
