Do you notice that your child frequently gets bumpy red rashes on their stomach or face? Or that they are irritable, restless, and having trouble sleeping? This could be a sign of excess heat. Children with a strong constitution, can have what is called “accumulation disorder” in Chinese medicine. It means they are getting too much of something and cant process it at the rate it is coming in.
Here are some causes:
-Overfeeding
-Irregularity of meals
-Types of foods
-Picking up stress
-Immunizations

Accumulation disorder is a stagnation of food in the digestive tract. So basically the undigested food gets stuck and then it transforms into heat. The food accumulation will happen in the intestine and in the stomach. Then there is an ‘invasion’ of the spleen making it hard for the spleen to properly function. This can cause the whole digestive system to to become unregulated and then you end up in a cycle of blockage so the food is either not expelled which would be constipation or its expelled as green smelly or hot poops. Could even be vomiting in some cases.

The stagnating of food is typically going to lead to heat in the digestive system and that can lead to red cheeks from heat rising up in the stomach and large and small intestine channels as well irritability, insomnia, restlessness.
