Mom Tips for Applying Acupressure

Applying acupressure to children can be tough, which is why we have collaborated with Kate Smith, mother, patient, and creator of the Conscious Mamas Movement.

Children are often very responsive to acupressure and so the points don’t need to be held as long. Do your best to have contact with the point and breathe for 30 seconds (for up to 2 minutes if possible). If you are using essential oils, be sure to dilute them. You can see my dilution guide for kids at the bottom of this page.

You may not feel a shift or anything “happening” but trust that your child’s energy is flowing more freely and having numerous positive effects. This ancient medicine has been used effectively for thousands of years.

Try Holding Hand and Ear Points While Feeding

Whether you are nursing or offering a bottle, this can be a great position to gently press a point on the ear or hand. Remember to breathe.

Make It Into A Game!

Here are some ideas to help kids do acupressure on themselves!

“When I touch my fingers here, it makes my head feel all better. Let’s sing your favorite song while we press…”

“I wonder who can hold their finger to their elbow for the longest?”

“I have some essential oil that smells so good, would you like to smell? I’ll put it on this point on your hand and we can take 3 big breaths together”
